EE, the UK's largest mobile network operator, has announced a massive expansion of its next-generation 5G Standalone (5GSA) network, reaching 28 million people nationwide.
This upgrade, free for customers, is set to transform mobile connectivity with faster speeds, improved reliability, and better indoor coverage.

EE's supercharged 5G network is set to be operational in new towns and cities by the end of the month. When the network becomes available in an area, customers with compatible handsets and EE-only plans will automatically experience the benefits without additional steps.
Unlike traditional 5G networks, which use an outdated 4G infrastructure, EE's 5GSA network is built on an end-to-end 5G standard. This means that users can expect ultra-low latency, increased energy economy, and continuous connectivity, especially in densely packed regions like sports stadiums and city centers. For example, Wembley Stadium became the first UK sporting venue to have its own permanent 5GSA network, ensuring seamless connectivity for thousands of visitors.
EE's approach to the rollout ensures that customers receive a reliable and consistent experience. The company only advertises 5GSA availability in a location after at least 95% outdoor coverage is achieved. Altrincham, Blackburn, Doncaster, Exeter, Milton Keynes, Sunderland, and Wakefield are among the most recent locations to benefit from this next-generation network.

While 5GSA was initially available only to users with specific SIM-only plans, EE now extends access to all customers and upgrades them to any EE handset plan. This step extends the scope of the advanced network, allowing more people to benefit from the technology without incurring additional fees.
EE's latest expansion is a step forward in shaping the future of mobile connectivity in the UK. This upgrade is a game changer for millions of users nationwide, providing faster speeds, stronger signal dependability, and increased battery economy.
