BCG X, Boston Consulting Group's tech division, has created the AI Science Institute, a daring effort to transform the pace and impact of scientific research through the power of artificial intelligence.
The institute, announced today in Boston, will bring together over 3000 technologists, including more than 200 Ph. D.s, to collaborate with leading academic institutions, R&D teams, and industrial experts worldwide.

As enterprises increasingly rely on AI to solve complex challenges, BCG X's investment in this institute is a strategic move to accelerate the transition from innovation to real-world impact. By leveraging AI's capabilities, the institute aims to substantially reduce research and development timelines from years to months or even weeks.
"The mission of the BCG X AI Science Institute is to deliver groundbreaking scientific and engineering research powered by AI," said Christoph Schweizer, CEO of BCG. "We are equipping companies with advanced AI solutions that create tangible business value while advancing scientific progress."
Dr. Adi Zolotov, the institute's global leader, and Dr. Leonid Zhukov, its director, will promote innovation across numerous fields, such as quantum computing, simulation, healthcare, climate analytics, and next-generation machine learning.
By integrating AI and domain expertise, the program will offer breakthrough solutions for sectors addressing major global issues like climate change, disease prevention, and sustainable energy.

"BCG X is committed to science because it is committed to impact," said Sylvain Duranton, BCG X's global leader. "Our goal is to build high-performing AI solutions that not only provide competitive advantage but also advance the broad scientific community."
The AI Science Institute represents BCG X's mission to combine cutting-edge technology, rigorous science, and entrepreneurial drive to develop answers to the world's most pressing concerns.
BCG X puts itself at the forefront of AI-driven scientific research by cultivating strong academic ties and collaborating with industry.
