Beats has officially launched the Powerbeats Pro 2, a long-awaited successor to its widely popular fitness earbuds from 2019. With a price tag of $249, the latest version maintains its iconic ear-hook design but introduces significant advancements in size, weight, and features tailored for fitness enthusiasts.

The Powerbeats Pro 2 is around 20% lighter and more compact than its predecessor, offering a more comfortable and secure fit during intense workouts. The charging case has also been reduced in size by 33% and now includes Qi wireless charging and USB-C compatibility, improving portability and convenience.
One of the most standout additions is the integration of heart rate monitoring. Each earbud is equipped with LED optical sensors that pulse more than 100 times per second to monitor blood flow.
This data is processed using an innovative algorithm, producing precise readings that can sync with popular fitness apps like Nike Run Club, Peloton, and Open. Apple Health integration boosts usability, though Apple Watch users may notice that their device's heart rate data gets prioritized over the earbuds.

Apple's H2 chip powers the Powerbeats Pro 2 and offers Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and a Transparency Mode, which wasn't available in the original model.
