Dfinity, the creator of the Internet Computer blockchain, is suing Meta due to similarities between the two's logos. With Meta's recent rebrand from Facebook, many have taken issue with the company's new branding. Previously, the company was sued by Meta Company over the new name. However, now it's being sued over its logo.
Dfinity v Meta: Just a logo?
The main cause of concern in the Dfinity v Meta lawsuit is the similarities between the two companies' logo. Dfinity' logo is a simple "Infinity" or "Figure 8" sign; Meta's is more of a sagging infinity sign. Of course, nobody really owns the symbol for infinity, so it'll be interesting to see how this goes.
Aside from Dfinity and Meta having the same logos, the former claims that the two also have similar audiences. Since they’re aiming for the same demographic, the infinity logo might end up confusing their audiences. Once again, this is a very petty reason but corporations gotta corporation.
Beyond the similarities and confusion, Dfinity also thinks that meta’s use of the logo has been hurting their company. Apparently, the logo confusion has actually cost Dfinity to lose some money. That’s madness but you can read their statement below.

What is there to gain out of this?
Money, obviously. Dfinity wants to regain all of their supposed lost revenue over Meta’s use of the infinity logo and this lawsuit might do that for them. Hopefully, this is settled out of court because it would be ridiculous if a judge actually has to make a decision over this.
To be frank, it’s embarrassing to see a lawsuit over something like a logo or symbol. Here’s hoping this is the last we see of this story, though there’s a good chance that won’t be the case.
