Google has introduced a new Gemini-powered feature in Gmail that allows users to quickly add events to Google Calendar from their emails. This "Add to Calendar" button recognizes event-related material within an email and offers an easy way to schedule events without requiring manual input.

An "Add to Calendar" button appears when Gemini identifies information in an email. Clicking this button opens Gmail's Gemini side panel, where users can examine and confirm event details such as title, date, and start time before adding them to Google Calendar. This simplifies scheduling, allowing users to keep track of meetings, appointments, and other time-sensitive events.

However, there are a few limitations. The "Add to Calendar" button won't appear in emails containing previously extracted events, like travel and restaurant reservations. Additionally, other guests will not be automatically included when an event is created using this feature.

The feature is currently available in English and exclusively on the web version of Gmail. Google has started rolling it out, and full availability is expected in mid-April. It is available to Google Workspace users, including those on the Business Starter, Standard, and Plus Plans and Enterprise Starter, Standard, and Plus subscribers.

This feature is also available to customers with the Gemini Education, Gemini Education Premium, or Google One AI Premium plans. Users who previously purchased the now-discontinued Gemini Business or Gemini Enterprise add-ons are also eligible.

Administrators who want to set up this feature for their organization should first activate smart features and personalization in the Workspace Admin Console.

The "Add to Calendar" button is part of Google's larger initiative to improve Gmail with AI-powered productivity tools. Previously, Google offered tools like email summaries and AI assistant authoring to help with email management. As Gemini continues to evolve, Gmail users can expect even more AI-driven enhancements in the near future.

This latest update demonstrates Google's dedication to incorporating AI into daily operations. It makes tasks like scheduling more effective and straightforward for users.
