Apple is reportedly working on a bold new design for the iPhone 20 to coincide with the iconic device's 20th anniversary in 2027. According to Bloomberg, the tech giant is planning a major "shake-up" comparable in scope to the iPhone X launch in 2017, which marked the iPhone's 10-year milestone. That redesign, which eliminated the home button in favor of an all-glass display, redefined the smartphone experience and charted the route for the next decade.

As Apple approaches another milestone anniversary, speculation is growing around a dramatic transformation in both hardware and software. Among the most talked about features is a foldable iPhone, which has been long and frequently delayed. Renowned analysts like Jeff Pu suggest that Apple may unveil a folding iPhone and iPad in 2026, followed by a full-scale iPhone 20 overhaul in 2027. Others think that Apple could apply this idea to a foldable MacBook Pro as well.
Alongside the foldable model, Bloomberg adds a new "bold Pro model" that will significantly increase the use of glass, mirroring predictions that the iPhone 17 Pro, expected in 2025, will also have more glass in its chassis. This is consistent with reports that Apple is steadily working towards an all-glass iPhone, a concept that's been around since 2017.

On the software front, iOS 19 is speculated to have a "glass-like" design, potentially previewing the aesthetic direction for the 20th anniversary release. Though these updates are expected to debut with earlier models like the iPhone 17, sources predict that the iPhone 20 will bring together years of design evolution in a flagship overhaul.
Apple hasn't yet confirmed any details, but all signs point to a game-changing release in 2027. Just as the release of the iPhone X marked a turning point, the iPhone 20 could set the tone for Apple's next decade of innovation by combining foldable technology, immersive glass design, and refined user experience.
