MediaTek officially announced the M90 5G modem at the Mobile World Congress 2025, a substantial advancement in mobile connectivity.
This next-generation modem introduces AI-power optimizations, satellite connectivity, and lightning-fast speed, setting a new benchmark in the industry.

AI-Powered Enhancements
At the heart of the M90 is MediaTek's Modem AI (MMAI), a cutting-edge artificial intelligence engine designed to optimize network performance. MMAI optimizes overall connection, decreases latency, and improves power economy by evaluating network circumstances and user patterns.
It is also equipped with Smart Antenna technology, which can use AI-driven models to enhance signal reception, resulting in up to 24% increased data performance.
Ultra-Fast 5G Speed
The M90 modem is engineered for remarkable speeds, with theoretical download rates of up to 12 Gbps. In real-world tests, MediaTek reached download rates of 5.5 Gbps to 11.6 Gbps.
With compatibility for both sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G bands and powerful carrier aggregation capabilities (up to 6CC-CA in sub-6GHz and 10CC-CA in mmWave), this modem delivers greater performance in various scenarios. Additionally, it improves uplink speeds by 20% using 3GPP Release 17 2T-2T Uplink TX switching.
Seamless Satellite Connectivity
One of the M90's most distinguishing features is its satellite-based non-terrestrial network (NTN) connectivity integration. This enables devices to remain connected even in faraway areas, allowing low-data applications like messaging and high-bandwidth services like video call center browsing.
This advancement positions the M90 as a vital global connectivity solution outside typical cellular networks.
Efficient Power Management
The M90 has MediaTek's UltraSave technology, which makes it around 18% more power efficient than its predecessor. This improvement increases battery life while preserving peak performance.
The modem also tracks its position precisely, with 99.5% accuracy, improving navigation, geofencing, and lost-device recovery features.

Global Compatibility and OEM Flexibility
The M90 supports dual 5G SIMs with dual active data capabilities, allowing seamless communication across several networks. Its compliance with 3GPP Release 17 criteria and preparedness for Release 18 ensure long-term survival.
MediaTek's work with industrial leaders like Verizon, Samsung, Telstra, and Ericsson has also validated the modem's performance in real-world scenarios.
