Mexican authorities have filed a lawsuit against a media company they claim worked with popular YouTube creator MrBeast. The video, titled "I Explored 2,000-Year-Old Temples", includes archaeological sites Chichen Itza and raised concerns about violations of filming agreements and the use of protected heritage sites for commercial purposes.
MrBeast published the video on May 10, 2025, in which he and his team explore ancient Mayan structures in Mexico's Yucatán and Campeche regions. The National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), in charge of protecting Mexico's historical landmarks, stated that they have granted filming clearance to Full Circle Media, the production company associated with the project.
However, the company pointed out that the permit doesn't allow a commercial promotion of private brands or monetization linked to the footage.
INAH has made clear that they are pursuing legal action against Full Circle Media, not MrBeast personally. The lawsuit addresses the use of archaeological imagery with promotional content for MrBeast's snack brand, Feastables, which is described in the video as "the only Mayan-approved snack on the planet."
MrBeast and Full Circle Media haven't issued a public statement yet responding to the legal action.
