In March, Samsung will launch its 9100 Pro, marking its long-awaited entry into the PCIe Gen 5 SSD market.
The 9100 Pro is Samsung's first consumer-ready PCIe Gen 5 SSD built with NVMe 2.0, promising significant speed and efficiency.
It will initially be available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacity, but the line-up will add an 8TB model in later 2025, marking a first for Samsung's NVMe SSDs.

The 9100 Pro is packed with cutting-edge technology, with sequential read and write speeds of up to 14.8GBps and 13.4GBps, respectively. This nearly doubles the performance of its predecessor, the 980 Pro, and outperforms early Gen 5 SSDs from competitors like Seagate and Crucial.
Random read/write speeds exceed 2,200K/2,600K IOPS, making it excellent for professionals who work with large files, such as videographers and AI engineers. Gamers, too, may benefit from faster load times and future-proofed storage.
Samsung attributes these gains to its V-NAND TLC V8 technology and a custom-built 5nm controller. The 9100 Pro significantly enhances power efficiency, lowering energy usage by up to 49% over previous models. Users concerned with thermal performance can opt for the heat sink variant, which offers improved heat dissipation and allows constant speed even under heavy workloads.
"From AI-driven creators shaping the future to gamers pushing the limits, we saw a clear need for innovation," said Jim Kiczek, Vice President of Memory Product Marketing for Samsung Electronics America. "The 9100 Pro SSD establishes a new era of performance, delivering more storage, better speeds, and improved efficiency for users memory technology."

Beyond raw performance, the 9100 Pro series focuses on compatibility and longevity. The SST works with various devices, including desktop PCs, laptops, and the PlayStation 5. Samsung's Magician Software also allows users to monitor performance, update firmware, and protect data, ensuring long-term reliability.
The 9100 Pro will be available in March at competitive prices of $199.99 for 1TB, $299.99 for 2TB, and $549.99 for 4TB. The heat sink variants cost slightly more, beginning at $219.99.
With the release of the 8TB model later in 2025, Samsung is establishing itself as a leader in high-performance consumer SSDs, setting new norms in fast storage speed and efficiency in the PCIe Gen 5 era.
