A new bug is subjecting Instagram users to all sorts of NSFW posts, including risqué and more violent types of content. This is affecting the user's Explore page and the Reels feed as well.
The reason behind this bug is yet unknown. It could be a hacker tampering with the Instagram algorithm. Perhaps it's simply a general malfunction. Fact is, users are seeing content they don't usually interact with in their feeds.
Having a tampered feed can be a nuisance. Especially if the new content populating it is content you're not interested in and, in some extreme cases, videos that shouldn't even be allowed on the platform.
Even those with more controlled content filters are not immune to this. Whatever the case may be, you might be wondering if there's a fix for this Instagram bug and if so, how to apply it.
How To Fix NSFW Instagram Bug

Sadly, there may not be much you can do on your end to fix the NSFW and violent posts populating your feed. You can, however, lesser the amount to a small degree by adjusting your content settings.
Simply follow the steps below:
- Go to Settings
- Tap on Account and select Sensitive Content Control
- Set it to Limit Even more
As mentioned, this won't outright solve the issue for you, but it might make the content less intrusive on your feed. Still, we recommend caution while navigating Instagram for the foreseeable future.
Sadly, communication with the developers is almost null. All Instagram comms social media accounts are seemingly abandoned. The last post on their X (formerly known as Twitter) was back in 2023, for instance.
Hopefully, the issue will be resolved soon so users can go back to scrolling without worrying about undesired content popping up on their feeds. While you're here, you might be interested in checking out how to view Instagram DMs without marking them as read.
