Nintendo is set to introduce the Switch 2 on June 5, 2025, with a bang. The console has been in development since 2019, and it's a big step up from the original.
It'll have a larger 1080p screen, the ability to connect to a screen and play in up to 4K resolution, support for HDR, and frame rates up to 120 fps. The new Joy-Con 2 controllers snap into place with magnetic connectors and can be used as a mouse in compatible games.

Now that we know some of the amazing features the Switch 2 will offer, one question may bug you: "Does it affect the battery life?" Or "How to increase Switch 2 battery life?" Well, yes, and yes, it does affect the battery life a little, and Switch 2 has some features to extend your battery's lifespan.
How long does a 100% battery last on Switch 2?
Nintendo claims the Switch 2 battery will last between 2 and 6.5 hours. However, this will totally depend on the game the user is playing and on the settings it's being played on.
This may seem a little less than the original Switch, which lasted around 4.5 to 9 hours, but with Switch 2 offering the best features and 4K compatibility, it's a small price to pay.
How to Preserve Switch 2 Battery Life?
Nintendo recently announced a feature allowing Switch 2 owners to opt into a setting that'll stop their device from charging after it reaches 90%. This feature helps the system's battery life.
This information was announced via the Nintendo Today News app on Monday. Nintendo said, "The Nintendo Switch 2 system stops charging when it reaches about 90% remaining battery. Pausing the charge at around 90% reduces deterioration of the battery."
To turn on the feature, go to the main Switch 2 interface and select System Settings > System > Stop Charging Around 90%.
So, while the Switch 2’s upgraded visuals and performance may shorten battery life a bit, Nintendo’s smart charging feature offers a solid way to protect your device over the long haul.
