- Quick Answer: Sony have canceled the development and launch of AFEELA Car Collaboration with Honda, a vehicle that would be controlled with a PS5 Remote controller.
Sony have announced their decision to cancel the development and launch of their AFEELA car collaboration with Honda. The company had planned the car to be controllable with a PS5 controller, also allowing PS5 Remote play capability. The announcement was made earlier today, on March 25, 2026, in AFEELA Sony Honda Mobility's official portal.
Sony Honda Mobility was established in September 2022. For over three years, the team involving Sony and Honda had worked on this and other projects, always aiming towards "develop and sell high value-added mobility products and to provide mobility-related services by combining the technologies, expertise, and development capabilities of Sony and Honda."
Unfortunately, plans for the AFEELA PS5 Remote-controlled car had to be scrapped after Honda's reassesment of its automobile electrification strategy, which was announced almost a fortnight ago on March 12, 2026. As valuable pieces and parts of the project can't be delivered when they had originally expected, Sony Honda Mobility determined that SHM "does not have a viable path forward to bring the Models to market as originally planned."
Sony Honda Mobility also announced that they will issue full refunds of the reservation fees they had received for current holders of reservations for AFEELA 1 in California and the rest of the United States. Despite the negative news, SHM will continue to hold discussions with Sony and Honda regarding future business plans. Therefore, while the idea has been initially scrapped, we could see similar projects seeing the light of day in the future.
