There are games you know will be tearjerkers, and Hounded is looking like one to keep an eye out. Developed by Imprint Studios, the game just recently found a publisher, Silver Lining Interactive, with gameplay set to be revealed at the Insider Gaming Showcase this May 28.
As a dog lover myself, to say the premise caught my attention the second I read it would be an understatement. You play as a border collie named Duke in search of his master, exploring a Flintlock Fantasy setting amid an ongoing conflict in which Duke's master finds himself right in the middle.
The game's story is described as "a touching tale of love, loss, hope, and determination," and cue the throat lump. The project is shaping up nicely, with the game's Kickstarter being funded in four days, amassing £52k out of the required £22k. It also has over 30k wishlists on Steam.
The core gameplay will focus on exploration, with Duke able to connect with a strange force known as The Tide to help him find his master. You'll be able to sniff around, bark to attract attention, and even urinate (I commend the commitment to the dog experience) as you solve puzzles and track down clues.
It's a small development team, but it has plenty of experience working on titles such as Lego: Hobbit, Killzone: Shadow Fall, and more.
